Rare documents, including newly discovered historical autographs of the American Founder which tells his story from General to President, are available for sale by the Raab Collection of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia, PA, February 12, 2011 -- The Raab Collection, the nation’s leading dealers and experts in important historical autographs, announced today that it will offer for sale a collection of original historical documents signed by George Washington, including newly discovered letters showing him as General, Spy chief, and President. The collection of 6 letters is valued at $250,000. They include:

An unpublished letter of General Washington anticipating the needed arrival of the French (June 18, 1780);

A newly discovered letter of President Washington calling the Senate into session for his inauguration (March 1, 1793);

The famous letter of General Washington directing his spymaster to gather intelligence on the British (October 20, 1780);

A newly discovered letter of President Washington to Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson (September 7, 1793).

"For many of us, George Washington is a heroic figure who played a crucial role in our nation’s independence and founding,” said Nathan Raab, vice president of The Raab Collection. “These historical documents bring that to life.”

These newly discovered treasures are part of a larger inventory of presidential historical autographs, and American historical documents held by the Raab Collection.
