One of London’s most popular attractions unveils new look at the history of British royalty.

June 10, 2013, 1:36 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Tower Of London is unveiling a new interpretation of one of its most popular attractions this summer. The Line Of Kings reopens on July 10th, re-displaying a magnificent collection of royal arms and armour, wooden horses and life-sized figures of kings. The Tower of London is one of the capital city's most visited tourist attractions. The closest station is Fenchurch Street in the City of London and LondonTown.com has the details of a huge number of hotels near Fenchurch Street that are available for booking.

The Line Of Kings features items that were originally used, much like the Crown Jewels, to convince the British people that Charles II should be allowed to return to the throne in 1660 after the period under which the country had been ruled by a Lord Protector, first Oliver Cromwell then his son Richard. It did this largely through a row of wooden effigies representing the kings of England. The display has been rearranged and dispersed around the country over the years, but the Tower is now bringing it all back together again to show it off in all its glory.

Highlights of the exhibition include the stunning wooden horses, many of which are hundreds of years old. There are also carved wooden heads of British kings stretching back to ancient times to emphasise the longevity of the British royal line. The magnificent armour that once belonged to Henry VIII has pride of place and is exhibited alongside armour worn by several other British kings, including King Charles and King James, as well as armour and weapons that once belonged to nobles and knights. The exhibition is at the White Tower and opens on July 10th. For more information about admission and prices please see LondonTown.com, London's premier website for inquisitive tourists.
