The incredible underground World War Two bunker is hosting two special events in 2013.

July 02, 2013, 2:37 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- One of London's most popular attractions, the Churchill War Rooms, has announced two new events taking place in 2013. The War Rooms are a series of secret bunkers located underneath the streets of Westminster and were where Winston Churchill and his War Cabinet conducted much of their planning during the Second World War while the German air force dropped bombs on the city from above. The Churchill War Rooms are found in central London near to Charing Cross station. Visitors looking for accommodation in London should head to LondonTown.com, where they will find details of numerous cheap London hotels near Charing Cross.

As well as housing the incredible Cabinet War Rooms, with many of the rooms still looking exactly as they were left in 1945 at the end of the war, and the accompanying Churchill Museum, t he only major museum in the world dedicated to the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill, the Churchill War Rooms hosts regular talks from World War Two historians and experts. In September 2013, author Clare Mulley will tell the story of Christine Granville, one of Britain's most daring and highly decorated female special agents, and reputedly Churchill's favourite spy. A glamorous and courageous heroine, Christine skied into occupied Poland, served in Egypt and was parachuted behind enemy lines in France.

The following month will see a lecture by author and journalist Simon Pearson, who will relate the extraordinary story of Roger Bushell, known as Big X, the prisoner of war who masterminded the ‘Great Escape' at the infamous StalugLuft III camp. Pearson will take a closer look at this complex and charismatic man, revealing the unique part he played in the fight against Nazism drawing on new evidence from Bushell's private papers. For both events, the ticket price includes the opportunity to view Churchill War Rooms after the event. For details of this and other events at the Churchill War Rooms, see LondonTown.com, London's most respected source for information for visitors.
