Country show brings communities together in Lambeth, says LondonTown.com
LONDON, August 04, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Lambeth Country Show takes place annually in Brockwell Park in Lambeth. This year the Show celebrates its 40th year and is set to attract around 180,000 visitors from all sectors of the diverse inner-London community.
Brockwell Park hosts the annual Lambeth Country Show, the largest free community festival in Europe. The event takes place over two days and offers visitors the chance to experience the countryside in the city. The weekend is packed with activities, entertainment and horticulture competitions. City children will have the chance to interact with farm animals as well as more exotic species, watch sheep dog and owl displays and enjoy fun fair rides. Arts and craft stalls, and trade stalls will be set up to tempt those hungry for fresh produce. Culinary treats from around the world will available at the various food stalls and the infamous Chucklehead Cider will once again be available for those looking for something a bit stronger. Other attractions include sheep shearing, a scarecrow competition, and jousting, while local musicians will provide the soundtrack to the event. Two stages will host performers including Jocelyn Brown, NZ Shapeshifter, and Yaaba Funk. This year there will also be a fancy dress theme to celebrate the four decades that the show has been running.
The Lambeth Country Show takes place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July 2014 and is free to attend. There is no camping at at this event so it's best to book a hotel in London for the weekend.
