Jack Perkowski is the author of Managing the Dragon: How I’m Building a Billion Dollar Business in China. Thanks to his extensive knowledge of doing business is China, he is also referred to as “Mr China”.

Jack Perkowski received a Bachelor of Arts degree (. laude) from Yale University in 1970 and an MBA degree (with high distinction) from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1973 and was designated a Baker Scholar. In 1990, Mr. Perkowski began to research the concept of investing in Asia, leading to the formation of ASIMCO Technologies in 1994. Mr. Perkowski developed ASIMCO Technologies’ industry approach and strategy for taking an active management role which has led to the formation of one of the largest, independent China based manufacturing organizations. ASIMCO Technologies was named one of the “Ten Best Employers in China”, ranking third according to a survey conducted by Hewitt Associates and 21st Century Business Herald.

Jack was featured in Thomas L. Friedman’s best-selling book The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century in the chapter dealing with China. Jack’s book, “Managing the Dragon: How I’m Building a Billion Dollar Business in China” published by Crown Publishers, March 18, 2008, discusses Jack’s experiences building ASIMCO Technologies from the ground up and the lessons he learned in developing its local management team. The book covers a wide range of topics such as decentralization; China’s different cost perspective and how it creates two markets for any product; intellectual property concerns; and practical advice on how to start a business in the country.
