Is It Too Little Too Late For UK Education Reform?

London, UK – 4th June 2011 http://www.toplanguagejobs.co.uk, Europe's Number 1 Specialist Provider of bilingual jobs and multilingual jobs vacancies rounds up what's going wrong in the EU and students language job market.

Aytac Irfan of TopLanguageJobs commented: “Britons are the main losers for jobs as they struggle to find work in the EU. This is a serious problem and we hope that there will be encouragement from the European Parliament for graduates and individuals looking to build a career in foreign languages and the European Union.”

Many Brits become complacent when considering learning foreign languages as opportunities are missed for jobs in the European Union.

Learning a foreign language for GCSE students is still not compulsory and may be hampering opportunities for further study and learning another language. Studies show that students taking language GCSEs has fallen from 61% in 2005 to 44% in 2010.

In Canada there is a growth of interest in students looking to learn a foreign language. Mandarin Chinese and Spanish are becoming popular, two of the world's most spoken languages.

Michael Gove who is secretary of state for Education in the UK wants a ‘risky' reform to the school system, but is this too little too late?
