Aggreko, the global leader in rental power, temperature control and oil-free compressed air solutions, is continuing its expansion in Canada with the opening of a larger service center in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Aggreko first established itself in Fort McMurray in 2009, and is now doubling the size of its local operations. The new 7,000 sq ft facility will host an expanded fleet of rental generators, a larger maintenance yard to better service
equipment, and a growing staff of technicians, sales and service personnel.
“Aggreko has served the oil sands industry in Western Canada for more than 10 years and we are excited to root ourselves deeper in the Fort McMurray community,” said Dennis Haller, Vice President, Aggreko Canada. “Our oil and gas, refining and upgrading, and construction customers need partners with a local presence and the capability to provide superior, highly responsive service. We’re proud to expand our service center to meet their growing temporary equipment needs.”
Aggreko will supply the area with all the company’s major rental product lines, including:
• Power generators from 30 kW to 1,500 kW
• New natural gas generators, 65 kW and 1,300 kW
• Temperature-control equipment - chillers, cooling towers, air conditioners and electric heaters
• Oil-free air compressors, both diesel and electric
• Refinery-grade heat exchangers
In addition to expanding its personnel and generator rental fleet, Aggreko will provide customers with remote monitoring capabilities to improve their ability to troubleshoot any operational issue and optimize operating efficiency. The new depot will also provide engineering support from Aggreko Process Services (APS): an experienced process engineering team within Aggreko that helps customers improve their processes and operations to enhance bottom-line performance and address environmental concerns. Unique to the rental industry, the APS team can design and install projects at extremely short notice – and while customers await capital expenditure approval or the delivery of equipment.
“We see great value in being part of the Fort McMurray community and employing local people,” said Sue McGregor, Canada Sales Manager, Aggreko North America. “The increased demand for our services is led by the development in the oil sands, and we continue to explore ways to assist with more local expertise, new technology for remote construction sites, and innovative solutions to reduce emissions and maintenance downtime.”
Aggreko operates additional service centers in Edmonton, Fort St. John, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Sarnia.
Aggreko plc is the world leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control solutions. Aggreko employs over 3,800 people operating from 148 locations. In 2010 we served customers in about 100 countries, and had revenues of approximately GBP 1.2bn (USD 1.9bn or Euros 1.4bn). Aggreko plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange (AGK.L), is a member of the FTSE-100 index, and is headquartered in Scotland. For more information, please visit the company website at www.aggreko.com.
Aggreko provides power and temperature control solutions to customers who need them either very quickly, or for a short or indeterminate length of time. Examples would be the supply of power to an industrial site which needs to service its permanent power supply, supplying a whole city in times of power shortage, or providing a major sporting event with power and cooling systems. We serve our customers either through our 148 service centers, which we call the Local Business, or globally through our International Power Projects business.
In the Local business, which accounts for about half of our revenues, we hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it for themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and maintaining it. In the International Power Projects business, which also accounts for about half of our revenues, we operate as a power producer. We install and operate power plants and we charge our customers both for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity we produce. We design and manufacture equipment specifically for these requirements in our factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Recent customers include the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the power utilities in over 50 countries including the UK, France, Angola, Kenya, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the USA.
In 2010 we fulfilled almost 40,000 customers’ assignments and when researched, 68% of them gave us a recommendation of 9 or 10 out of 10.
