Hood Tech’s new Mark 4 launcher sends the RQ-21A UAV airborne for its first flight at sea.
Hood River, OR, April 03, 2013 -- According to a press release from the US Navy, on March 19, 2013 Hood Tech’s new UAV launcher, the Mark 4, successfully lunched the RQ-21A small tactical unmanned aircraft system (STUAS) for its first flight at sea (http://rpdefense.over-blog.com/article-rq-21a-uav-flies-at-sea-on-uss-mesa-verde-116422713.html, http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articles-view/release/3/143606/rq_21a-uav-flies-at-sea-on-uss-mesa-verde.html). The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Mesa Verde was the site of the first and successful set of operations as part of the sea trials for the Hood Tech launcher, part of the RQ-21A system. “We’re pleased to be supporting the success of this new system”, said Cory Roeseler, the Chief Engineer for Hood Tech’s launcher systems. “We hope the Navy is equally pleased.”
